First freight train on Turkey-Iran-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan route arrived in Tashkent

Joint Stock Company "Uzbekistan Temir Yollari" jointly with the Turkish side has developed a route of cargo transportation from Gumrukh station to the city of Tashkent. In particular, the train of 40 cars with household appliances (refrigeration equipment) has passed through the territory of Turkey, Iran and Turkmenistan and arrived in Uzbekistan today, on December 3.
This route, totaling more than 4,500 kilometers, has great potential for development and is an additional route for transportation of Uzbek goods to international destinations.
The launch of the goods train consisting of 40 wagons with household appliances has been organised as part of the implementation of the decisions taken at the first meeting of the heads of railway administrations of the Organisation of Turkic States, convened on 27 October 2022 in Tashkent.
During the OTA Samarkand summit held on 11 November 2021, the Heads of State called for close cooperation among the member States to further develop the transit potential of railways, digitalize transport operations and expand the network between railway administrations.
In this regard, the above-mentioned efforts undertaken by the railway administrations under the Uzbek Chairmanship of the Organization of Turkic States will contribute to the efficient use of existing transport and communication networks and infrastructure in the Turkic region, as well as significantly reduce transport time and costs towards global and regional markets.
