Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan receives EU Special Representative for Central Asia

Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov received today the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia Teri Hakalu, who arrived in Tashkent to participate in the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Central Asian countries and Italy.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the results of the bilateral and interregional negotiations with the EU held in November were discussed. Mutual interest was expressed in the further development of political, diplomatic, trade, economic and investment cooperation, the expansion of inter-parliamentary ties, as well as the implementation of joint new social projects with the European Union and its member states in the Aral Sea region.
An exchange of views took place on the schedule and organizational aspects of upcoming events at various levels and formats, including the holding in Uzbekistan in 2022 of the first ministerial conference of the EU and Central Asia on strengthening connectivity and sustainable development.
The talks also considered certain issues of the regional and international agenda, including the current situation in Afghanistan.
