Gender equality is an important element of the development of society and democratic processes

Today, September 8, in Tashkent, the next 14th summit of female leaders of the parliaments of the Member States of the Inter-Parliamentary Union on the topic "Parliamentary leadership: risk assessment in ensuring stability and prosperity more effectively" began its work.

The Tashkent summit is attended by women-speakers of the UN, Inter-Parliamentary Union and chambers of parliaments of member countries, heads of international organizations such as the Parliamentary Assembly of the organization for security and cooperation in Europe, more than 120 representatives of Parliament from 17 countries.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the participants of the summit of 14 female parliamentary leaders, which began today in Tashkent. The appeal of the President was read by Sherzod Asadov.

"The meeting of the heads of national parliaments is taking place in Uzbekistan for the first time. We see this as a recognition of the irreversible democratic reforms carried out in our country, including in the areas of parliamentarism and gender policy.”

Established since 2005, this inter-parliamentary summit has become an important platform for cooperation and seriously contributes to the development of democratic processes as well as civil society.

Today's forum Agenda is also devoted to topical topics, it will focus on increasing the role of women in society and politics, and women's participation in important processes at the national and international levels.

“We are confident in Uzbekistan that gender equality is an important element in the development of society and democratic processes,” the appeal emphasized.
