«Global threat not yet resolved», WHO chief

The World Health Organization met to discuss ending the COVID-19 pandemic. As mentioned above, it was hoped that the state of emergency declared by WHO for the coronavirus would end in 2023. However, the predictions did not materialise.
After China lifted strict quarantine restrictions, the number of cases and deaths suddenly began to increase. Specifically, from the beginning of December 2022 to mid-January 2023, 60 000 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 died here.
According to the head of the organisation, Tedros Gebreyesus, this has an impact on the epidemiological situation worldwide. In particular, 170,000 people have died worldwide from the coronavirus in the past eight weeks, and these figures are worrying.
"We are now in a better situation than in the early days when the pandemic was declared. But the global threat has not yet subsided. Because the world's population has not been sufficiently vaccinated," says the WHO chief.
