India chairs UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee meeting

Meeting of the UN Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Committee will begin in India on October 28 this year, the UN press service said. The participants will discuss counter-terrorism issues in the IT sphere.
This is the first meeting of the committee since 2015 outside the UN headquarters in New York.
The fact that new technologies are falling into the hands of terrorist groups only exacerbates the existing threat. Participants want to focus on tackling the same problem. Discussions will take place on three fronts - the Internet and social media, the financing of global terrorist networks and the proliferation of drones.
The experts are also tasked with discussing terrorist financing and channeling funds through "crowdfunding" as well as preventing funding activities through social media platform and other digital methods.
For information, India will hold the chairmanship of the Committee until the end of this year.
