Is 5G fatal?

The top 10 airlines in the United States are warning that the prevalent introduction of 5G services could be catastrophic.

They claim that new technology could delay thousands of flights and prevent many US aircraft from flying indefinitely.

5G relies on radio signals. The radio frequencies used for 5G in the US are part of a spectrum known as the S-band.

These frequencies are akin to the frequencies used by aircraft radio altimeters, which measure aircraft altitude and provide information for security and navigation systems.

The concern is that the interference of 5G signals can hinder the proper operation of these devices and cause security hurdles, especially when landing aircraft.

This can make it tricky for the aircraft to slow down during landing and induce it to deviate from the runway.

Aircraft is not allowed to use the radio altimeter in the event of serious interference with the signals.

However, this limits the ability of some aircrafts to land in limited visibility.
