Issues of Uzbek-Hungarian cooperation were discussed

On May 4, Tashkent hosted a meeting between the co-chairs of the Uzbek-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary Peter Siyyarto.

The meeting discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the political, investment, trade and economic, financial and technical, transport and logistics, cultural, humanitarian and interregional spheres, the implementation of existing agreements and prospects for deepening relations in priority areas.

The two sides welcomed the effective work being done to consistently and systematically develop inter-agency cooperation, as well as to strengthen direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries. It was noted that the volume of mutual deliveries of textiles, food, pharmaceuticals and chemicals has increased. Investment cooperation is also expanding: Hungarian companies and banks are successfully implementing projects in Uzbekistan and looking for new directions to expand the partnership.

While discussing opportunities to expand cooperation in the field of transport, the participants discussed measures to accelerate the signing of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Air Transport between the transport agencies of the two countries and agreed on a number of important issues.

Particular attention was paid to the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including in the field of education. An agreement was also reached to intensify contacts in the field of science and innovation.
