Japan's JICA will allocate $ 490,000 US for an Uzbek project

Director of the Cultural Heritage Agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports Shahriyor Nurulloev met with Yoshimasa Takemura, First Deputy Director of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Uzbekistan. During the meeting, it was noted that the Japanese organization JICA has allocated 55.9 million yen ($ 490,000 US) for the project "Preservation of the cultural heritage of the Silk Road through digital archives" in Uzbekistan.

The event focused on the implementation of the tasks set by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 28, 2019 No PD-4553 "On measures to further expand and strengthen bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and Japan". In particular, the Great Silk Road in the Republic of Uzbekistan was established to preserve and digitize the archives of cultural heritage and to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of preservation of cultural heritage.

Moving back in history, on June 10-30, 2021, JICA conducted research at the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan and the Termez Archaeological Museum and archeological sites near Termez city.

According to the corollary of the investigation, the first discussion meeting of the project "Preservation of the cultural heritage of the Silk Road through digital archives" was held on October 29, 2021 at the Agency for Cultural Heritage.

In January 2022, Shahriyor Nurulloev, Director of the Cultural Heritage Agency, met with Yoshimasa Takemura, First Deputy Head of JICA, to announce that Japan had allocated 55.9 million yen ($ 490,000 US) for the project.

Before closure, the parties concurred to hold a signing ceremony of project documents in the framework of the events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Japan.
