Lady Gaga Appointed Co-Chair of White House Committee on Arts and Culture

U.S. President Joe Biden appointed singer and actress Lady Gaga co-chair of the U.S. Presidential Committee on the Arts and Humanities. It is reported by the press service of the White House.
The U.S. President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities was established in 1982 by decree of Ronald Reagan in order to advise the White House on cultural policy. As noted in a press release from the U.S. administration, it includes "prominent artists, scientists and philanthropists who have demonstrated a serious commitment to the arts and humanities."
The White House statement called Lady Gaga (real name Stephanie Germanotta) "one of the most commercially successful female musicians in history." During her musical career, she has sold over 170 million records and won 13 Grammy Awards.
She has also been included in Forbes magazine's list of the most influential women in the world, as well as in Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
