Lukashenko asked Russia for guarantees of Belarus protection

If Belarus is attacked by other states, Russia must protect it as its territory. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
"In general, our talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin were based on the fact that if Belarus encroaches on something, the Russian Federation will defend it as its territory. This is the security guarantee we need. We want full security guarantees from Russia, which is our brother,” Lukashenko said.
He noted that the West does not comply with the agreements on security guarantees provided in exchange for the withdrawal of nuclear weapons under the Budapest Memorandum, and essentially violated them.
