Meeting with Hungarian OTP Bank authority

The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade hosted a meeting between Sardor Umurzakov, the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with Sandor Chani, the Chairman of the Hungarian OTP Bank.

Issues related to the Bank's investment activities in Uzbekistan were canvassed, taking into account the implementation of the previously signed agreement on the privatization of Ipoteka Bank. The implementation of this agreement will enlist foreign direct investment to the banking sector of the country and will be an additional impetus for the enhancement and transformation of this sector.

During the discourse, the practical aspects and terms of the agreement were discussed in detail, the matters on the agenda were studied, and mutually acceptable solutions that meet the interests of both parties were introduced. The next steps were taken by the Hungarian investor to advance the process of privatization of Ipoteka Bank. In addition, a program for further development of the bank will be created on the basis of advanced international banking practices and standards.

Sandor Chani also expressed his temptation in participating in the advancement of sports in Uzbekistan, in particular, by investing in the establishment of specialized sports academies.
