National Center for Human Rights hosted a meeting on "Helping migrants and their families during the Covid-19 pandemic"

On May 7 this year, an event was held at the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the topic "Helping migrants and their families during the Covid-19 pandemic."
The Commission on Gender Equality of the Republic of Uzbekistan initiated this meeting, and the organizers were: the International Organization for Migration, khokimiyats of Kashkadarya, Bukhara, Andijan, Fergana and Surkhandarya regions, the Ministry for Support of Mahalla and Family, the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations, the Center for Support of Civil Initiatives, Center for Support and Development of Initiatives "Nihol", representatives of the Agency for External Labor Migration, as well as the International Organization for Migration of the UN Agency in Uzbekistan.

According to the decree, five regions were selected as members of the Association of NGOs. Five NGOs working in each of the selected oblasts received sub-grants of US $ 7,000. 580 returned vulnerable migrants (306 women and 274 men) received legal, socio-economic and psychological counseling. Of these, 60 (35 men and 25 women) received a grant of US $ 2,500 from the International Organization for Migration.

Information videos about labor migrants were shown at the event, which tell the success stories of the main characters who received reintegration assistance. In addition, a question-and-answer discussion was held to propose and resolve issues of further accelerated capacity development and reintegration of returned migrants.
