New Zealand increases tourist tax and excursion costs

New Zealand's tourism sector is in need of "fundamental changes" following the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tourism Minister Stuart Nash said on Friday. His words are conveyed by Stuff. He noted that the suspension of the tourist flow due to the pandemic made it possible to carefully study the sector and draw attention to long-standing problems.

“I think most New Zealanders would agree that prior to COVID-19, an unsustainable approach to tourism put undue pressure on communities and our natural attractions,” Nash said. According to him, the country cannot return to the model of the tourism industry that existed before the pandemic.
