New Zealand passed the world's first law banning tobacco use for the next generation

The bill proposes a total ban on tobacco sales to people born after January 1, 2009. It is also noted that the country introduces additional anti-tobacco rules. In particular, companies must reduce the amount of nicotine in tobacco products, as well as reduce the number of retail outlets.

It is noted that the number of stores selling tobacco products in the country should be reduced by 10 times, from 6,000 to 600.

It is noted that the Parliament of the country passed the anti-tobacco law in the third reading; it should come into force in 2023. It is considered to be another step of the New Zealand government to completely stop smoking in the country by 2025.

According to the latest data, the number of smokers in New Zealand is 8%. This is the lowest rate since calculations began.
