Oxford English Dictionary chooses «word of the year» by popular vote

The Oxford English Dictionary wants to choose a three-word word of the year, putting it up for a public vote for the first time.
"We decided to entrust the final stage of the word-of-the-year selection process to the original judges of the language -- people from around the world. The way we communicate and develop English influences Oxford's choice every year, but for the first time in the history of the dictionary, the word of the year 2022 will be chosen by the public," the statement said.
It is noted that the choice included the concepts metaverse ("metaolam") and Goblin mode, as well as the hashtag #iStandWith ("I support") on the short list.
P.S. In Oxford, the voting process for the 2022 word will continue until 00:01 on Friday, December 2.
