Paris 2024 - medal programme announced

The International Paralympic Committee has announced the medal programme for the XVII Summer Paralympic Games, to be held in Paris in 2024. He said a total of 235 medals will be awarded to women at the Games in the French capital.

That is 8 more medals than Tokyo 2020. In addition, at least 1,859 female athletes will take part in the Games, 77 more than in Tokyo 2020. Paris - more events for athletes with severe disabilities in 2024.

The Paralympic Games in Paris will see 4,400 athletes compete for a total of 549 medals in 22 sports. The number of medals awarded to athletes with severe disabilities in judo and rowing will also increase. The International Paralympic Committee has standardised the competition format for all five team sports. There are now eight teams competing in all team events.

After a successful debut in Tokyo, there will be a total of 16 medals in badminton, 2 more than in Tokyo 2020. The number of medals in Para-Taekwondo will increase from 6 to 10 and the number of competitors will also increase by 66%.

The trunk will have 4 events for men and women as well as 3 mixed programs. Previously only mixed or open competitions were held. The number of medals will be increased to 10 and 11 respectively in the Paracanoe and Paratriathlon, the first time the Games have been held in Rio de Janeiro.

The number of medals in Paralympic athletics and Para-sailing will be reduced to 3 and 5 respectively. The number of competitors in these sports will also be reduced. The medal count will be formally approved by the Executive Board of the International Paralympic Committee after the approval of the athletes' quotas for the Paralympic Games in Paris.
