People with disabilities are an integral part of society, people and every nation

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted a Decree “On additional measures to provide full support to people with disabilities, promote their employment and further amplify their social activism”.

The Decree was ratified aiming at ensuring the implementation of the tasks set out in the State Program for the implementation of the Action Strategy for the Five Priority Areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021 in the "Year of Youth Support and Public Health", establishing an effective support system of the disabled people, elaborating their quality and level of life by actively promoting their employment as well as creating vacancies in line with the Sustainable Development Goals by the UN.

The resolution implies the provision of material and moral support to people with disabilities, their employment, the creation of jobs and places of study, the effective study of foreign languages and modern professions in training courses, assistance and organization of internships in enterprises and organizations in their field of specialization, the opportunity to work on new projects, taking into account their creative potential, as well as the provision of training materials for the blind and visually impaired items expected to be implemented in the development of audio interpretations.

Additionally, from 2022 on, in order to corroborate the most promising projects on ameliorating the life quality of people with disabilities, the following nominations of contests are expected to be organized and held:

“Best social project” by the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction

“Best entrepreneur” by Chamber of Commerce and Industry

“Best student” by the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education

“Best sportsman/sportswoman” by the Ministry of Tourism and Sport

“Best bookworm” by the Ministry of Culture

“Best employer" by the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations

The results of the contest will be announced annually on the eve of "December 3 - International Day of Persons with Disabilities" and the winners will be rewarded with a one-time cash prize of 100 times the basic calculation from extra-budgetary sources.

This very decree will come to force on January 1, 2022.
