People's addresses are at the centre of the Senate's attention

At the thirty-sixth plenary session of the Senate the senators first paid attention to the priority directions arising from the Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan.

It was noted that the message, in its spirit and essence, is a policy document aimed at protecting the citizens of the country, their interests and directly improving the quality of life of the population. Every issue raised in the Address is closely related to the activities of Parliament. One of the main tasks of the Senate is to establish effective parliamentary control over the rule of law in all spheres, over the implementation of the adopted documents in the field, to supervise their full implementation.

Thus, it was noted that the committees of the Senate, based on the objectives of creating a compact and efficient system of public administration and ensuring its effectiveness, should revise the methods of interaction and work with the relevant bodies of public administration, with which they interact in the direction of their activities. After all, the core content of parliamentary activity is a system of checks and balances in the interaction of the branches of government for the good of the people while maintaining a balance of interests.

The need for the Senate to actively discuss laws at the level of local councils, assess their compliance with the interests of each region, and expand mechanisms for expert and public discussion of laws in line with the objectives set out in the Address was also identified.
