Permanent headquarters for prevention of emergencies established

Prime Minister Abdullah Aripov chaired a video conference call to discuss emergency prevention priorities related to possible mudslides, floods and landslides.

Temperatures will rise to 10 degrees Celsius during the day and +3 degrees Celsius at night beginning this week. Even in the foothills and mountainous areas, +2+7 degrees Celsius is expected. Snow and ice melting is accelerating due to higher air temperatures, further increasing the probability of floods, landslides and inundation.

The meeting thoroughly analysed the current situation in terms of regions and instructed the heads of relevant ministries and departments and khokimiyats to prevent and eliminate possible negative phenomena.

On instructions from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a permanent headquarters for the prevention of emergency situations related to mudflows, floods and landslides was established.

Also, Presidential Decree No. 426 of 18 November 2022 established the anti-flood government and territorial commissions and defined their main tasks.

Following a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, members of that commission were assigned to the territories of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the provinces and the city of Tashkent.
