Preparation of system documents and negotiating positions for WTO accession were critically assessed

On December 14 this year, under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Badriddin Abidov the regular meeting of the Negotiating Team on Uzbekistan's accession to WTO was held.

In the course of the event, the current state of executing the instructions of the head of the Interministerial Commission on the work with the WTO, measures to accelerate the completion of bilateral negotiations with member countries of the Organization were discussed and the reports of heads of thematic working groups were listened to.

It was stressed that the ministries and agencies need to speed up the process of developing additional negotiating positions based on updated proposals from WTO member states on market access for goods and services.

In addition, specific tasks were set for the promotion of the next rounds of bilateral talks with the WTO member states on market access for goods and services, as well as consultations
with the Secretariat of the Organization for the timely implementation of previously reached agreements.

At the same time, the meeting critically evaluated the activities of each specialist in the thematic working groups involved in the accession process, including the preparation of system documents and negotiating positions, as well as their implementation.

As a result of the meeting, the thematic working groups were entrusted to hold weekly working meetings in relevant areas of the agenda and to develop proposals for the efficient and effective organization of further negotiations
in the process of the country's accession to the WTO.
