President visits military medical institutions

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Central Military Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Defence on January 13.
The hospital has 700 beds and serves military servicemen, members of their families, veterans. Other categories of patients are also served on a fee basis. There are 286 different examinations and over 600 medical procedures and around 30 specialised departments.
In particular, a new eight-storey building has been built for surgery departments. The Head of state was familiarized with the conditions created there. It has been emphasised that such clinics should be set up in the regions as well. Recommendations on treatment of non-military contingent, including sportsmen and women, have been given.
Effective interaction between education and practice has been organised. Previously, military medics were trained only at the military medical faculty of the Tashkent Medical Academy. Pursuant to the presidential decree of 22 October 2020 on measures to organize a qualitatively new system of training in military medicine, the Military Medical Academy of the Armed Forces has been set up in the faculty.
It is noteworthy that this educational institution has been built next to the Central Military Clinical Hospital. The President familiarized himself with the conditions of the academy.
The academy has a capacity for 250 students and trainees. Military doctors are trained here and the medical personnel are retrained. There are 2 faculties, 5 departments, 2 centres, an institute and an administrative building. Classrooms are fully equipped for theoretical and practical studies. There is also a hostel for 186 people.
The Head of State paid special attention to the educational content of the academy.
The building and the conditions are good, but it is only the beginning. Now the main thing is to understand the meaning and the essence of military medicine, to get the training right. For this purpose, it is necessary to create a pedagogical, scientific and practical system based on the foreign experience. This system should be an alternative and competitor to other medical schools, and the graduates should act as a benchmark in their field," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
Instructions have been issued to introduce foreign management at the academy, and to send the first graduates to internships in countries like Turkey and South Korea.
