Presidential elections will be held in Sri Lanka

The new president of Sri Lanka will be elected on Wednesday, July 20, at a meeting of the country's parliament.
"At today's meeting of the Party Leaders and Parliamentary Affairs Commission, it was decided to announce the presidential candidates on July 19 and vote on July 20 in accordance with the Presidential Election Law (section "Special Provisions")," said Speaker Mahinda Yapi Abeiwardena.
It should be noted that Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa resigned on July 13 of this year against the background of mass protests related to the economic crisis.
