Priority tasks for the further development of sericulture are identified in Surkhandarya region

On September 13, with the participation of the Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Sericulture and Wool Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan B. Sharipov, a meeting was held to analyze the work carried out in the Surkhandarya region in the field of sericulture.

The meeting was attended by all officials of the region, heads of LLC "Agroilla" of the region and the district, agronomists and heads of processing enterprises.

Initially, the processes of growing cocoons in the spring and autumn seasons of 2021 were analyzed. According to him, they discussed a further increase in the indicators achieved in the current year in subsequent years and, most importantly, the achievement of an improvement in quality indicators.

If in 2021 30,571 boxes of silkworms are bred and 1,715 tons of live cocoons are grown, then in the next 5 years, with an increase in the food supply, it is planned to bring the production of cocoons to 2,377 tons in 2026.

By the end of this year, as a result of modernization measures and deep processing of cocoons, 169.3 tons of raw silk, 113.2 tons of silk wool, 394.8 thousand linear meters of silk fabric and 424 pcs. silk carpets. It is planned to increase these indicators by 2 times by 2026, and the export figure of $ 6.1 million in 2021 will triple, to $ 19.6 million in 2026.

And in 2026, due to the strengthening of the fodder base in the regions, 9 more new projects will be launched, and the number of enterprises will be brought to 18.

Spontaneously growing indicators affect the further growth of employment in the industry. If at present more than 86 thousand people are employed in sericulture in the region, then in 2026 all opportunities will be used to increase this indicator to 100 thousand people.
