Prospects for the development of agriculture in the SCO territory

On July 25 of this year, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade J.Khodjaev participated in the VII meeting of the ministers of agriculture of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The meeting was attended by heads of official ministries and agencies of India, Kazakhstan, PRC, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, and Tajikistan, as well as the leadership of SCO and UN FAO for Central Asia.
In his welcome speech, J.Khodjaev mentioned the implementation of the Joint Action Plan for 2020-2023 adopted by the SCO Secretariat and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) between these two organizations. gave a high assessment of their work and put forward a number of constructive proposals aimed at the implementation of "growth points" and the full disclosure of potential in the agricultural sector in the region. In particular, it was emphasized the need to introduce science-based technologies and innovations, digitization, exchange accumulated experience and knowledge, comprehensive support for real estate and horticulture.
It was proposed to take active measures to popularize and promote agro-ecological agriculture in the SCO space, as well as to implement large-scale projects aimed at developing the agro-sector in cooperation with FAO.
