Representatives from Uzbekistan and Afghanistan met for an extended meeting

Kabul hosted a meeting of the Uzbek and Afghan delegations. The Uzbek side was headed by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade S. Umurzakov whilst the Afghan side was headed by Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Ghani Baradar.
During the event, the sides exchanged views on issues on the agenda of Uzbek-Afghan cooperation in investment, commerce, transport and logistics, energy, agriculture, education and health.
Intensifying cooperation in the construction of the “Trans-Afghan Railway Termez-Mazar-e-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar” project was of particular significance. The parties addressed the practical aspects of the project implementation and expressed alacrity to jointly consider all existing issues.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed the contingency of involving Uzbek companies in joint projects for the construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure, agricultural development and extraction of natural resources. It was consented to work together in the near future to develop and approve an Action Plan for the development of Uzbek-Afghan trade and economic partnership and its implementation.
