Roadmap for the construction of the Kambarota-1 hydropower plant with a capacity of 1860 MW signed

On January 6 in Bishkek, Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamahmudov, Kyrgyz Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev and Kazakh Minister of Energy Bolat Akchulakov signed a road map for the Kambarota-1 hydropower project. This HPP plays an important role in the electricity and water supply of the Central Asian countries.
The parties defined the main conditions and necessary measures for the project implementation.
The project will involve the commissioning of a 5.4 billion cubic metre reservoir and a hydropower plant with a capacity of 1,860 MW. This will produce an average of 5.6 billion kWh of electricity per year.
P.S. During the September 2022 SCO summit in Samarkand, the presidents of the two countries emphasised the importance of starting construction of the Kambarota-1 hydropower plant as soon as possible.
