Russia plans to open consulates General in Samarkand, which is becoming popular among tourists

According to the Kommersant newspaper, Russia plans to open consulates General in Grodno (Belarus), Aktau (Kazakhstan), Samarkand (Uzbekistan), Male (Maldives) and Denpasar (Bali, Indonesia).
This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Ivanov in an interview with RIA Novosti. According to him, the department wants to strengthen Russia's consular presence in regions with large Russian diasporas, as well as popular with tourists.
From January to September, 318,156 Russians entered Uzbekistan, the newspaper notes.
Dmitry Danilov, press secretary of the Russian Embassy in Tashkent, noted that this issue is being actively worked out now, and Samarkand was not chosen by chance.
