Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko met on the sidelines of the Third Eurasian Women's Forum with Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva. The interlocutors discussed the prospects for inter-parliamentary cooperation.

According to the Speaker of the Federation Council, Russian-Uzbek relations continue to develop progressively, covering all new areas of cooperation. "We are interested in bringing our interaction to a higher level, filling it with new, joint projects."

Valentina Matvienko believes that there are significant reserves in the development of relations along the parliamentary line.

The Chairperson of the Federation Council noted the active work of the delegation of Uzbekistan in various Commissions of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. "We are aimed at continuing an effective partnership in both bilateral and multilateral formats."

The meeting participants also touched upon the issues of sending observation missions to the elections in Russia and Uzbekistan.

Tanzila Narbaeva noted the high quality of bilateral relations, including in the field of economics and in the migration sphere. According to her, it is necessary to closely accompany bilateral projects by joint efforts of parliamentarians of both countries.
