Saida Mirziyoyeva commented on Uzbekistan's performance at the Biennale of Islamic Art

The first edition of the Biennale of Islamic Art was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in January this year. Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for Development of Culture and Art Saida Mirziyoyeva said that the Foundation presented a unique collection of museum exhibits of ethnography and textile art at the Biennale.
The exhibition featured 17 museum pieces. Among them are collection of hadiths of Imam al-Bukhari "al-Jome as-Sahih" from the 17th century, ceramic jugs and bowls from Samarkand and Afrasiab of the the 10th-12th centuries, as well as national costumes and shoes from the collection of State Museum of Fine Arts of Uzbekistan. A special place in the exhibition is occupied by four pages from the Kattalangar Quran, two of which are on public display for the first time.
"Such events are a great opportunity to demonstrate the rich culture of our country to a foreign audience," said Saida Mirziyoyeva.
The first Biennale of Islamic Art opened in Jeddah on January 23. It was organized by Diriyah Biennale Foundation in cooperation with Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Culture. Participating countries include Mali, Egypt, Tunisia, Greece, Oman, Qatar, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
The Jeddah Biennale of Islamic Art will be open to visitors until 23 April.
