Samarkand has become a platform for effective and practical dialogue between the CIS parliaments

As reported previously, the first events of the autumn session of CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly were held in the city of Samarkand on October 27-28.

On the second day of the session, a number of important meetings and events took place at the congress center of the International Tourism Centre "Great Silk Road", where heads and members of delegations of the CIS Member States Parliaments, as well as representatives of international organizations, scientists and experts took part.

In particular, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan T. Narbaeva met with representatives of the delegation headed by the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan M. Ashimbaev.

During the meeting they discussed the development of inter-parliamentary relations, strengthening mutually beneficial relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, as well as mechanisms for regional cooperation across Central Asia.

Senate President T. Narbaeva also met with the Chairman of the Majlis Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, G. Mammedova.

In the conversation between T. Narbaeva and the Speaker of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan M. Zakirzoda the sides stressed the need to intensify the dialogue between the parliaments of the two countries and continue to exchange experiences on various aspects of lawmaking.

During the 54th session of CIS Interparliamentary Assembly the participants discussed a number of model laws concerning different spheres. Heads of the CIS Member States Parliaments made speeches during the session.

The autumn session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in Samarkand has become a special platform for establishing an effective dialogue between the parliaments in the CIS, strengthening the economic, cultural, educational and humanitarian cooperation, and promoting constructive initiatives aimed at achieving practical results.
