Scientists suggest a way to extract iron from the soil on Mars

Scientists from the Svinbern University of technology in Australia proposed the extraction of iron on Mars. Researchers from the country have come up with the idea of extracting iron from regolith using carbothermal reduction and emphasize the possibility of using concentrated sunlight as an energy source for use.
After analyzing the composition of Martian soil, scientists found that liquid iron can be obtained as a result of special conditions for adding carbon to it. As predicted by thermodynamic models, when carbon reacts with regolith at 1120 degrees Celsius and seven millibars, the efficiency of converting iron into a molten alloy is up to 99.9%.
Also in may 2023, NASA announced that a 30-day guided mission was being prepared for Mars.
