Shahbaz Sharif has been elected the new Prime Minister of Pakistan

Pakistan's parliament has voted to nominate Shahbaz Sharif as prime minister. His candidacy was supported by 174 deputies.

Only opposition parties took part in the vote, as deputies from the ruling Pakistan Justice Party, led by ousted Imran Khan, decided to resign collectively.
