Shavkat Mirziyoyev gives start to construction of Olympic Campus

The foundation stone for the Olympic Village was laid November 9 in Tashkent. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the opening ceremony. At the beginning of his speech, the head of state congratulated everyone on this historic event and spoke about the importance of the project.

"We have our own way, our own aspirations and plans. We believe that the historic work that we start today will yield great results. This confidence gives us strength," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

Next year our country will host the world boxing championship, as well as numerous tournaments on a continental scale. The most high-profile and major upcoming events are the Asian Games and Asian Youth Para Games to be held in Tashkent in 2025. Young people from 45 countries of our continent will compete in nearly 20 sports.

It is worth noting that such a prestigious international event is being held for the first time in the history of Uzbekistan. A modern Olympic campus has been designed to ensure the high organization of the event. Our head of state familiarized with the project on several occasions, and gave instructions on it. Taking into account these recommendations, the project has been finalized together with the chief designer - Chinese company CAMC Engineering.

It is worth noting that such prestigious international competitions will be organized for the first time in the history of Uzbekistan. In order to hold it at a high level, a project for the construction of a modern Olympic campus has been elaborated. The head of our state has familiarized himself with the project on several occasions, and issued instructions. The recommendations have been brought to perfection by the general designer, the Chinese company CAMC Engineering.

"I am confident that the Olympic town will become a symbol of high creative potential of our people and unprecedented achievements in Uzbek sports. This facility will be a modern complex with breakthrough architecture, energy-efficient and incorporate the most advanced innovative solutions," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The cost of the project is more than $289 million. The area of the town will be 100 hectares. A 10,000-seat track-and-field and football stadium, 6 indoor and 7 outdoor sports facilities, a water sports palace, a cycle track, and martial arts and team sports complexes will be built here".

Renowned athletes, heads of federations, veterans of the industry, representatives of government and public organizations took part in the event. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid the first stone of the construction of the Olympic town.
