Strict demands to disconnect Russian banks from SWIFT

The West is announcing new sanctions. Last night a number of NATO members began making strong demands to cut off Russian banks from SWIFT. The US has provided $ 600 million US in emergency financial assistance to Ukraine.

P.S: SWIFT is the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications.

Founded in Brussels in 1973 by 248 banks from 19 countries, the system is an international interbank means of digital data transmission and payment, which allows financial institutions around the world to send and receive financial transactions in a secure, standardized and reliable manner.

SWIFT is a co-operative society based on Belgian law, which has its founding members. As of 2015, over 11,000 financial institutions in more than 200 countries, including about 1,000 corporations, are members of SWIFT. On average, over 30 million transactions are performed per day.
