Tanzila Narbaeva met with US Deputy Secretary of State Uzra Zeya

On the first day of their visit to the United States, the Uzbek delegation led by Tanzila Narbaeva, Chair of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairwoman of the National Commission on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, held a series of meetings and talks with US officials, the public and business.

In particular, during the meeting with Uzra Zeya, Under Secretary of State for Civil Security, Democracy and Human Rights, the parties discussed issues related to the elimination of forced labor in the country, prevention and suppression of human trafficking, agricultural reform, international structures and civil society institutions. Legal and institutional arrangements for cooperation were discussed.

The Deputy Secretary of State praised the country's efforts to end forced labor, noting that Uzbekistan has made incredible progress in a relatively short period of time, and that the United States stands ready to continue to support the positive dynamics of change in our country.

According to him, the achievements in the field of textiles will strengthen the competitiveness of Uzbekistan in the world market.

In a State Department report on human trafficking, Zeya welcomed Uzbekistan's rise from the "controlled list" to the second tier (Tier-2) and expressed hope that these efforts would continue.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to implement new projects to further improve labor relations in Uzbekistan.
