Tashkent hokim cancels his decision to promote the draft constitution

Shavkat Umurzakov, Tashkent's acting hokim, has cancelled a decision to set up campaign groups to promote the new draft constitution. The relevant decision was published on the E-resolution portal.
It is noted that the cancellation of the decision was prompted by an appeal from the Tashkent Department of Justice dated 31 March. The reasons for the appeal were not disclosed.
The khokim's decision on creation of agitation groups for propaganda of the draft Constitution of Uzbekistan specified that agitation groups should be created from among aksakals and elders, public representatives, youth, representatives of education, culture, art, literature and leaders of organisations in mahallas and districts of the capital with "high spirituality and authority".
According to the repealed decision, more than 1,000 people, including elders, teachers, doctors, youth leaders, aides to hokims and others, were to be included in the campaign groups, and more than 11,000 community activists were to assist them.
