Tashkent hosts international conference on regional cooperation

Today, March 3, Tashkent is hosting an international conference on "Regional cooperation of Central Asian countries in the framework of the Joint Action Plan for the Implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy."

The event is initiated by the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UN Counter-Terrorism Directorate and the Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

The hybrid conference is attended by about 600 high-ranking officials from China, Russia, the US, the EU, Central and South Asia, the Middle East and other regions, leading experts from national and foreign think tanks, international and regional organizations and civil society institutions.

An address on behalf of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was read at the opening ceremony of the conference.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres sent an online video message to the participants of the international conference.

The final document of the prestigious event, which will take place on March 3-4, is the adoption of a new version of the Tashkent Declaration and the Joint Action Plan.
