The 25th session of the General Assembly of the UN World Tourism Organization will be held in Samarkand

A decision was made by the Government of Uzbekistan to hold the 25th session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) at a high level in Samarkand, Dunyo news agency reported.

The resolution provides for the preparation and wide distribution of photo and video materials illustrating the infrastructure of the international tourist center "Silk Road Samarkand" and objects of cultural heritage, tourism, ecotourism, propaganda materials on the topic "Samarkand is the tourist gate of new Uzbekistan" and other topics.

It is noted that at the session the city of Shakhrisabz will be presented as a candidate for the status of "Tourist Capital of the Economic Cooperation Organization in 2024".

Recall that Uzbekistan received the right to host the 25th anniversary session of the organization in 2021 at the 24th session of the UNWTO General Assembly in Madrid, Spain.

The UNWTO General Assembly is the most important tourism forum, which is held every two years. So far, the United Nations General Assembly has not been held in Uzbekistan.
