"Uzbekistan is committed to international human rights principles and consistently aligns its legislation with international standards. In this process, special attention is paid to the recommendations of international organisations on eliminating gender-based violence. We are currently moving firmly towards recognising domestic violence as a crime under the law, and our position on this important step will not change!"

During the dialogue, views were exchanged on increasing the role of parliament in the implementation of the country's international obligations through the UN human rights bodies.

In his speech, Volker Türk expressed comprehensive support for the results achieved and measures currently underway in Uzbekistan to ensure gender equality and women's rights.
