The Chairperson of the Senate met with a representative of UN Women

Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with Ulziyisuren Jamsran, representative of UN Women.
During the meeting the sides discussed issues of deepening cooperation between Uzbekistan and UN Women, in particular, the issues of intensification of UN Women activities in our country, establishment of the Centre of Excellence for Gender Equality and joint implementation of other promising projects.
Chairwoman of the Senate Narbayeva underlined that the UN recommendations have been systematically implemented in Uzbekistan in recent years to promote women's interests. It was particularly pointed out that cooperation with UN Women has become systemic with the organization of the Central Asian Women Leaders' Dialogue. It was emphasized that the main priorities of programmes and projects implemented jointly with UN agencies, in turn, are fully consistent with the goals and objectives of the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan.
In her turn, U.Jamsran stressed with satisfaction that Uzbekistan, as one of the most active countries in ensuring gender equality in the world community, has been implementing concrete measures, including the Strategy for Achieving Gender Equality until 2030 approved in 2021. She put forward a proposal for the creation of a new unique area of cooperation, explaining that Uzbekistan, by promoting cutting-edge initiatives in the international arena, is introducing standards that serve as an example for all.
Based on the above, the creation of a Centre of Excellence in Tashkent was discussed. It was stressed that this centre would promote Uzbekistan's experience on a global scale.
At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached on further strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and UN Women.
