The Chairwoman of the Senate and the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation met

On November 28 this year, Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan T. Narbaeva received Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation V. Volodin.

The sides discussed multilateral cooperation between the two countries, in particular, the promotion of promising projects in trade and economic, investment, innovation, transport and logistics, agro-industrial and scientific and technological spheres, expansion of educational and cultural and humanitarian exchange, as well as inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Senate Speaker Narbayeva highlighted the achievements of the two countries in the sphere of interparliamentary cooperation in recent years, including the results of the autumn session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly held in Samarkand in October this year. She underlined that the session laid the foundation of a new stage of cooperation between the CIS parliaments.

In his turn, the Chairman of the State Duma V. Volodin pointed out the special importance of ensuring legislatively the decisions adopted at the level of the heads of the states within the framework of their parliamentary capacities. Russia today is the main partner of Uzbekistan in the sphere of foreign economic relations, trade turnover between the countries is increasing, the need to strengthen ties in transport, industrial, tourist and other spheres is increasing.

The sides underscored the importance of further consolidation of cooperation within international inter-parliamentary organizations. There was an exchange of views on topical issues of international and regional importance.
