The delegation of Uzbekistan made a proposal to establish a Regional Climate Council at COP27

These days in Sharm el-Sheikh, Arab Republic of Egypt, passes the 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27). A delegation headed by the Chairwoman of the Senate of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva also took part in the event.
The event discussed obstacles to the implementation of climate solutions. In her speech, the Speaker of the upper house of parliament stressed that only through joint efforts can the problem of climate change, the consequences of which are evident in Central Asia, be confronted.
"The main goal of Uzbekistan is to achieve economic progress by introducing the principles of "green economy" in the ongoing structural reforms. The priority in this direction is the transition to lower carbon use in all sectors of the economy and the introduction of resource-efficient, efficient and environmentally friendly technologies, "- said Tanzila Narbayeva.
Also in her speech, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva noted that our country is ready for active cooperation with the international community and proposes creating a regional climate council. This will allow to increase the effectiveness of cooperation in promoting projects on acclimatization, combating desertification and land degradation, and the introduction of water-saving technologies.
Next year, two major UN events on combating desertification and preservation of migratory species of wild animals are planned to be held in Uzbekistan. All international partners were invited to take active part in these forums.
P.S. This conference has been held annually since 1995. This year, the issues of financing climate change mitigation and adaptation projects are considered.
