The Economic Forum of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia was held in Tashkent

 
On November 17-18 this year, the Economic Forum of the United Nations Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) 2021 on the theme "Sustainable transport and trade for the development of a green and inclusive economy after the pandemic" was held in Tashkent in a hybrid format.
 
The event, co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan B. Abidov and Deputy Executive Secretary of the UNECE D. Maryasin, was also attended by members of the delegations of the SPECA member countries - Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, representatives of the regional the UN Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), the EU, the EAEU, the SCO, the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), the Russian Federation, and other countries and organizations.
 
Welcoming statements at the opening of the Forum were made by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov, UN Deputy Secretary General and UNECE Executive Secretary Olga Algayerova, as well as UN Deputy Secretary General and UNESCAP Executive Secretary Armida Salsia Alisjabana.
 
The interest of Uzbekistan in developing cooperation through the creation of interregional value added chains by deepening industrial cooperation, adopting a program for the development of industrial cooperation, encouraging mutual investments, promoting a program for the development of renewable and hydrogen energy, developing transport and transit potential in the region through the joint implementation of large logistics infrastructure projects was voiced, introduction of uniform tariffs and cross-transport preferences.
