The fastest underground in Europe opens in Istanbul

From the city centre to the airport in 24 minutes! Yesterday, 22 January, a new metro line to Istanbul Airport was launched. This was announced by Adil Karaismailoglu, Turkey's Minister of Transport.
The new underground line will be 34 kilometres long and the train will take 24 minutes to reach the airport from Kaytheon Station. The underground is considered the fastest in Europe, with trains travelling at 90-120 kilometres per hour.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who participated in the opening ceremony of the new line, made a statement that "the launch of this project has shown to the world Turkey's strength and potential in metro construction".
