The first president of Bashkortostan passed away

Murtaza Rahimov, the first president of the Republic of Bashkortostan, passed away at the age of 88. He led Bashkortostan from 1993 to 2010 and retired the same year.

It is noted that he passed away after a long and serious illness.

P.S. Under Rahimov, a declaration on state sovereignty of the Republic of Bashkortostan was adopted. He signed the federative treaty with Moscow and its addendum and in 1993 the Constitution of the republic was adopted.
