The first round of presidential elections is underway in the Czech Republic

The first round of the presidential election will be held in the Czech Republic on 13-14 January. According to information, eight candidates are running in this presidential election.

However, opinion polls show that only three of them have a chance of winning. They are the country's former prime minister and businessman Andrej Babiš, economist and former rector of Brno University Danusa Nerudova and retired general and former head of the NATO Military Committee Piotr Pavel.

It is noted that it is difficult to predict the results of the election in advance, there is no clear leader among the favourites, and the level of support for any candidate does not exceed 30 per cent. However, if Piotr Pavel makes it into the second round, he will have the best chance of becoming president.

P.S. The current Czech head of state, Milos Zeman, has been in power since 2013, he has won two elections, which is why he will not run in this year's elections.
