The Great Silk Road Museum will be opened in Samarkand

A unique museum "Great Silk Road" will be introduced in Samarkand. The project concept of the facility is being developed in collaboration with the German architectural firm Atelier Bruckner. The museum will be located in the center of Samarkand between University Avenue and Bobur Mirzo Street.

The exterior of the museum will be a volumetric area in the form of a smooth silk ribbon, reminiscent of the Silk Road. It will continuously stretch throughout the building and cross the central platform in the form of a ramp. In the center of the basement floor of the building there will be an image of Samarkand, and on the roof landscape elements that can be seen from all floors. An area will appear inside, resembling a kind of three "fingers" of the building, which will provide favorable spatial conditions for creating exhibition expositions.

The main exposition area, located on the top floor, will pass through three wings, skirting the central open atrium and at the end of each wing there will be three thematic zones.

This project will be submitted for approval by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, since the territory of the city, where the construction of the facility is planned, is included in the historical center, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
