The population must be provided with affordable, modern electric vehicles

On October 10, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended a presentation of projects aimed at developing a network of electric cars and increasing the coverage of services.

At the presentation, heads of Uzavtosanoat Joint-Stock Company informed of the agreements reached with foreign companies, and models to be mastered. Issues regarding the establishment of production of electric cars, expansion of the network of charging stations and localisation of components were discussed.

"Electric cars are rapidly entering our everyday lives. Imports are increasing. Why? Because there is demand. Costs associated with the operation of such vehicles are lower, service is cheaper. Most importantly, our people prefer them. So we need to provide the population with affordable, low-cost, modern electric cars," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The cost of electric cars is 10 times less than that of a conventional car, and they are 3 times less harmful to the environment. In developed countries the use of such vehicles is increasing. Of course, it requires a large infrastructure.

"In every decision we make, we must look not just one year, but dozens of years ahead. Therefore, given the environmental agenda and for the sake of the future, we need to develop this industry now. The sooner we do this, the more competition we will have in the car market," said the President.

In this regard, the need to set up a joint venture with a foreign company, which has experience in this area, and to set up production of popular electric cars was mentioned. The head of our state stressed that the cost of electric cars should be affordable.

It was also stipulated that part of the interest on a loan for the purchase of a domestic electric car will be reimbursed. The issue of expanding the service network for electric cars was also touched upon. A goal was set to install two thousand charging stations in the next two years.
