The President instructed to create a cluster of the copper industry

On June 24, a presidential decree was adopted on additional measures for the development of the mining and metallurgical industry and related industries.

Over the past 5 years, the volume of copper production in Uzbekistan has increased by 1.5 times and in 2020 reached 148 thousand tons. But the work on the production of copper products is insufficient, since 60 percent of copper is exported as raw materials. Revenues from the sale of copper currently amount to $2.5 billion.

According to international experts, it is expected that by 2030, the global demand for copper will grow by 40% due to the growth of production of electric vehicles, electrical equipment and the development of renewable energy sources.
