The President of Uzbekistan and the General Chancellor of Germany held videoconference negotiations

Today, March 12, in the afternoon, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had videoconferencing with the Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
The agenda of the summit of the leaders of Uzbekistan and Germany included issues of further expanding multifaceted cooperation between the countries in the context of increasing global crisis due to the epidemiological situation.
The President of Uzbekistan and the Chancellor of Germany noted with deep satisfaction that the joint implementation of the previous agreements (high-level meetings in Berlin two years ago) ensure a steady dynamic in the development of bilateral relations.
The head of our state expressed gratitude to the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany for the constant support of the new course of democratic transformations, as well as for the expansion of the program of financial and technical assistance to socio-economic reforms in the republic.
Special attention was paid to the issues of economic interaction. Germany is traditionally a key technological and investment partner of Uzbekistan.
The parties signed an agreement on supporting joint projects, business contacts and initiatives, besides expanding the activities of leading German companies and banking institutions in Uzbekistan.
A regular meeting of the Uzbek-German Business Council is scheduled for May this year to discuss new areas of cooperation, primarily in the development of industrial clusters, digitalization and the "green economy", promotion of projects in the field of renewable energy. It was agreed to continue cooperation on the issues of our country's entry into the World Trade Organization. The importance of deepening cooperation in such priority areas as ensuring human rights and freedoms, combating corruption and gender equality was emphasized too.
